Six Sigma Quality is a highly disciplined, team-based, problem solving process used to help companies achieve zero defects. Sigma is a statistical term that measures the amount of variation in a process. A small amount of variation is normal.  Large variations do not normally occur. A large amount of variation means the process is not in control. Variation is the enemy.  To achieve Six Sigma Quality, a process must produce no more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities.

Selecting the right Six Sigma Project and the best people for the team are critical for success. Joe DeSimone is a Master Black Belt who has led numerous Six Sigma Teams and trained hundreds of SIx Sigma Green Belts and Black Belts.

Six Sigma definitions:

  • Critical to Quality – Features that are most important to the customer
  • Defect - Failing to deliver exactly what the customer wants
  • Process Capability – What the process can consistently deliver
  • Variation – Difference between actual and desired ideal
  • Process Control – A predictable process with minimal variation
  • Design for Six Sigma – Designing to meet both customer needs and process capability
